DESCRIPTION: Peedee & Ronaldo arrive home from school. Peedee lets his dad know that he'll be going to Steven's.
CHARACTERS: Mr Fryman, Ronaldo & Peedee
KEY WORDS: Slice of life
Oil hisses, bubbles pop. Mr Fryman appears well at work doing what he does best - deepfrying some hot chips. It's rush hour. He's expecting a sudden swarm of customers in the upcoming few minutes. Suddenly, the click of a door lock grabs his attention. Peedee rushes in, squeezing in a "Hey Dad!" on his way. Ronaldo quickly follows after and greets him, too.
Before Fryman could even greet his sons back, they disappear. Peedee goes into his room in his school uniform, and quickly out in his usual singlet and shorts. Ronaldo isn't out yet, unsurprisingly. Unique to most other days, Peedee still carries his schoolbag and is heading on his way to the front door. Mr Fryman finally grabs this space in Peedee's time to talk to him. "Hey! How was school today, Peeds?"
Peedee halts, almost slipping as he did. He states that school went fine, as usual, but this time there was something different. "Gotta study for a stupid maths test tomorrow," he complains.
"Stupid?" Fryman repeats.
Peedee's response is nothing more but a single flat "Yeah."
Fryman gives a lighthearted chuckle and asks how Peedee thinks he'd go. Peedee bluntly states that the test would go terribly because of his disdain for maths, but Fryman quickly reminds him of its importance in the future, as most parents and teachers do.
"Anyways," continues Peedee to a new subject, "I've decided to go to Steven's to study. He's having that one girl-friend over too, and she seems pretty smart."
Fryman's astonished at this information. "What?" he asks. "He's already got a girlfriend?"
Peedee panicks a little, clarifying that what Steven had was not really a girlfriend, but this all comes out of his mouth in tiny pieces. Peedee is silent for a moment. He has nothing to say, but he continues anyway. "Whatever. Can Ronaldo cover for me this afternoon?"
From the other room, a muffled yell is heard. "NO. WAY." It's Ronaldo.
Fryman ignores his eldest son and agrees to follow along Peedee's request. He even states how it was about time Ronaldo got out of his "interneting" habit again.
Ronaldo protests, and then begins the childish squabbling between Mr Fryman's two boys. The topic this time is whether or not the elder brother has a good enough excuse to not take the job for the afternoon. Today's was one of the shorter ones, though. Understandable, since Peedee's got no time to waste, so he continues to the door.
"I've got a MATHS TEST; you're COVERING FOR ME!" Peedee made sure that was final. "I'm going now, seeya! Bye!"
Peedee rushes out. His father tries to remind him not to stay out too late, but he's not sure if Peedee even heard. He shrugs it off, anyway. It's not like worrying too much about Peedee would be all that necessary - he's a responsible kid and, minus all the gem hijinks and mayhem, Beach City's a decently safe place. Peedee should be fine.
